Not So Level

Day 118

As of today, we have done a complete tour of all the Maritime provinces, we have travelled from upper New Brunswick to PEI. From PEI we travelled to Cape Breton in Nova Scotia, before heading into Newfoundland. Upon returning, we took our time traveling through lower Nova Scotia, and then New Brunswick. Out of all the provinces we visited, we loved PEI the most, and after a few discussions we decided to return back in PEI.

Today is our last day in Sussex, and we began to pack up of the Rv in preparation of our journey.  As a normal we would stow all loose items in the Rv, pull the slides in and disconnect the utilities. The last step we do is raise the levellers. Lori would take the controls to bring up the levellers, while I would move around the Rv and pull the resting pads out from under the jacks as they come off. Much to my dismay, one leveller did not come up. We tried resetting the system a few times, and even tried the manual override on the controls located in the engine compartment with no luck. I looked up a remote Rv repair company for Rv’s and gave them a call in hopes of someone being available, unfortunately I was met with an answering machine, I left a message and returned back to the leveller.

As we continued to try different methods on the Leveller, we began to approach the required departure time for the campground. Being as proactive as we could, Lori went to the office to inform them that we will be longer on our departure. Just as Lori was discussing our delay, the repair company I had called drove into the campground to do repairs on another unit. Lori followed him to see if he would help us out, he agreed to come look, once he was finished with his current job.

He arrived within a half hour, and set into finding the issue, while I spoke with his office to provide my contact information and payment method. About twenty minutes into probing the system, he discover the wire that raised the leveller had no power coming to it, he swapped it with one of the other levellers wires and it began to raise. After it was up he advised me that’s the best he could do without a proper facility and time to find where the problem was, nevertheless, with the leveller up, we were mobil.

On our journey to PEI, I heard a familiar whining sound of the leveller motor running as I was driving down the road. I immediately pulled over and jumped out to check the levellers, the leveller motor had stopped before I had the Rv pulled over, and the pads were all in their up position. Not sure what to think, I decided to continue our drive. After a few more miles into the journey, the console to the levelling system began beeping and the lights began flashing, the leveller motor made no sound, so I carried on. Other than just the odd beep from the console.

we made it to the campground around four with no serious issues. Once we setup the Rv, I decided not to use the levellers until I had a chance to speak with a service department at the local Rv dealer about the issue. A little into the evening the console pad began just screaming and flashing all it lights, not sure what was going on, I decided to pull the fuse to the system until I could speak with someone.

Levelling pads, the far one was the problem. They both are supposed to be in the up position.

Main control for the hydraulics to the levellers.
This is not normal.
