Permanently Closed

 Day Fifty two

Yesterday was our last day in Quebec. Today we packed up and began our trek east into New Brunswick. Our primary destination is Miramichi, but we have a one day stop in Edmundston to break up the travel time.

Before leaving, we checked our destination carefully on the map to ensure we had the best route selected for fuel efficiency, current price for fuel is $2.26 per litre in Quebec. Our path was pretty much a straight line northeast along the St. Lawrence river for most of the drive until we turn east at Riviere -de-Loup towards Edmundston.

When we left Quebec, I wondered if we would get out from under this rainy weather that has been with us for the last week. The beginning of the day showed some promise, the skies were just a light grey and everything was dry, about halfway into our journey the rain arrived. On a positive note, everything is so lush with deep green colours from the rain.

We arrived on the outskirts of Edmundston around 2:00 o’clock and pulled over for the pups to take a pee break. At this time, I looked up the campground on my phone for the exact address. I was unable to locate the website and google informed me that the campground was permanently closed. There was no number listed to call, and I had not saved any contact information when we originally booked the site.

We spent the next half hour searching for some sort of contact information. With no success finding the info, we decided to either look up another campground, or just head to the local Walmart. The purpose of this stop was to break up the travel time, so sleeping in a parking lot would have been fine.

We started with the local campgrounds and I noticed one was right beside the campground I had listed in my notes. I wondered if I confused the two campgrounds when we originally made the booking and gave them a call, no one answered. Figuring I had nothing to loose, we drove down to this campground. The office was open and I went in, I explaining that I may have a reservation here and provided my contact information, she found us in her computer and was provided our spot….. yay!!

By this time, the rain was just pouring down,we quickly set up our home for the next day and retreated inside.

Welcome to New Brunswick.
Aerial views of our campground.

A few classic cars and matching campers pulled in along side us.
Lori and I lost our chairs and now have to sit at the table.
