Jump Around

 Day Eighty Eight

Today we said goodbye to St. John’s and began our trek back across Newfoundland to the ferry. Our ferry does not depart until the 19th around 11pm, giving us two days to slowly make our way across. Our stay at the Pippy Park Campground was excellent and we would recommend the place to anyone looking for a place in St Johns. We broke the journey across Newfoundland into two four hour drives; five and a half for me.

Our first stopover is the Notre Dame Provincial Park, located a half hour past Gander. The day was expected to reach the mid to high twenty’s with blue skies for the drive back, I would be lying to you if I said was not concerned what the wind was going to be like.

We pulled out of Pippy Park around ten and headed straight for the highway. As I had hoped, the wind was calm leaving St. John’s, both Lori and I looked at each other with a sigh of relief, without making a verbal comment on our good fortune….. knock on wood I suppose.

We reached our evening stop around two in the afternoon. When we pulled up the the registration office, Lori overheard another traveler asking the Park Officer for any alternate routes to Dildo with no potholes. Lori did not stick around for the answer, we both know the traveler was in for a bumpy ride. We headed to our spot and settled down for the balance of the evening.

Our journey for the day.

Notre Dame Provincial Park. If you get the right spots, such as 43 it’s a good park to stay in.
