Walmart Regulars

 Day Ten

I will have to admit, we were a little apprehensive sleeping in a Walmart parking lot for the first time. When we arrived we figured other RV’s would park, giving us a feeling of security. Around ten o’clock the parking lot had emptied, leaving us the only ones there. We both slept with one eye open worried a knock could come to the door by security or the OPP asking us to leave. In the morning we were relieved we made it undisturbed and surprised to see eight other RV’s had shown up in the night. We took our time waking up, sipping on our coffee and tea, relishing in the thought that we escaped the parking cops we had imagined would arrive.

The drive to Thunder Bay was by far the most enjoyable drive I have had in the RV. There was little wind, and traffic was light. Lori relaxed with a little music playing and I seized the opportunity to fine tune a small device called a Scan Gauge that is supposed improve your fuel economy as you drive, I am very impressed with this little device and would recommend it to anyone looking to improve their fuel efficiency.

Learning to use the Scan Guage as best I can. Fuel prices are currently 195.9 out here.

We arrived in a rest area just outside of Raith and began to make plans to possibly spend the night there, or maybe move to a truck stop closer to Thunder Bay as the storms had hit this area so hard all the campgrounds were still deep in snow and remained closed.

As we began to make plans to stay put for the night, I received a call from a campground that we called earlier informing us that they had a few spots cleared, and we are welcome to stay if we want….. SOLD! The place is called Happyland Campground and it was one hour away from us.

First Walmart sleep over ever!
We ended up not being alone. Campers all around the parking lot.

Just outside of Thunder Bay close to the Kakabeka falls.
Lots of snow still on the ground, it is even deeper in the trees.
