Appearance and Functionality

 Day Ninety Five

The Shubie campground is a well kept campground located in Dartmouth providing ideal access to Halifax and the surrounding area. Shubie comes with all the services you would expect to find except sewer, you would need to have them call a pumper truck, or move your RV to their dump station if needed.

When we arrived, our campsite appeared to be in the overflow section of the campground; as we spend most of our days exploring, the appearance of our sites is not a high priority to us. Our assigned site for the next seven nights was a back-in site, with the hook-ups located at the very back. We backed into our site, and discovered there was only a six foot, sloped space between us and the RV beside us and put the grassy area with the picnic table on the utility side of the RV. If we wanted to BBQ, or read at the picnic table, we would have to walk around the RV to get there. Now; I did say the appearance of our site is not a high priority, but being functional is.

I tried with the RV turned around, putting the front head first. This would provide access from our door to the green space and picnic table, but was concerned the electrical cable would not reach the hookups that now stretched from the front end of the spot to the back end; I was five feet short.

With the truck now disconnected, I drove it the the registration office to discuss my dilemma. They were very accommodating and did what they could to move us out to a new spot located inside the gated area of the campground, the only kicker was, this spot was only available for five days and then we would need to be moved to another site for the last two. This worked just fine for me, as I would have needed to move the RV on the fifth day for a dump anyways.

This is our third day in this spot, today we decided to drive east along the Nova Scotia coastline in hopes of discovering little towns and coves to explore. Surprisingly, the roads running east of Dartmouth are set back from the ocean by a few kilometers, providing little to view and explore. After a few hours, we decided to turn back and head into town for a few supplies before heading home for the day.

Dartmouth Boardwalk.

This is as close to the ocean as we could get after the boardwalk.
