Day Eighty One
Today was a jump day from Gander to St. John’s, approximately a four hour drive for us. We enjoyed our stay in the central part of Newfoundland, but will be happy to be out of the dead zone for our cell service. The day started pretty much the same as all the other jumps. In the morning, we packed everything up quickly, pulled the RV out to attach the truck and was quickly on our way.
It was a twenty minute drive from our campground to the highway, once we hit the highway it would take us right to St. John’s. I was hopping for a casual day of driving, providing me the opportunity to look around a little as we went. Much to my worst fear, high winds kicked in, making the drive another harrowing 😣 experience for myself and Lori. About halfway to St. John’s, we pulled over for a break, and a little lunch. I noted to Lori that I was having a hell of a time keeping the RV on the road and wondered if other RV’s, and truck drivers were having the same challenge. Watching other large vehicles pass they seemed to be in control, not all over the road like I felt I was.
Around three we made it to St. John’s in one piece. Our campground for the next week was located right on the edge of St. John’s, in Pippy Park. We quickly found our camp spot, set up the RV and crashed from exhaustion. Closer to dinner we set out to do a quick driving tour of the city before coming home for the night.
