Day 109
After we arrived in camp yesterday, the rain continued to pour until early the next morning. Around 5:00 am, I would normally take the pups for their morning walk. This morning, I stayed in bed, listening to the rain on the roof of the Rv. I was waiting for the rhythmic dance of the rain to move from a hard fast beat to a soft casual patter. Around six my patience paid off and the rain began to slow, I quickly prepared the pups and dragged them from the safety of the dry Rv into the water soaked grass of the campground. I am not sure how dogs mange to do this! But why is there entire underbelly soaked after a walk? We dodged all the puddles and did our best to stay out of any tall grass, but alas they were soaked from head to tail when we returned to the Rv.
The weather was expected to continue its heavy down pour through the morning and hopefully let off a little in the afternoon. Just before lunch we headed to Sussex to do some laundry and a few groceries. With everything truly soaked from the onslaught of rain, I figured it would be a good day to experiment with a little Rv gourmet cooking. While we waited for for the laundry, I located the local butcher shop with intentions of picking up a few tenderloins for possibly making Lori Beef Wellington.
Once the laundry was finished, we headed to The Country Butcher located just outside of Sussex and succeeded in getting a few amazing looking tenderloins….. side note… I think Albertans are getting ripped off on the price of beef, we paid half of what we would have been charged in Calgary. We picked up the remaining ingredients and headed home for the evening. I was not sure how the Beef Wellington was going to turn out in an Rv oven, and was pleasantly surprised! We had an amazing dinner tonight.
