Day Thirty Four
Enlightenment and understanding of this world should be the key goals to everyone as they grow. We get so entrenched in our our own beliefs created by our personal experiences we tend to disregard, or minimize other peoples experienced knowledge. A key example of this; my experiences of living in BC and enjoying the amazing lakes and cabins it has to offer. I would be bias to someone else’s experiences when they would tell me that Ontario is cottage country. Well today, I am now that other guy. I can not believe the amount of lakes and cottages in Ontario. Without exaggeration, for every one lake in BC with cabins on it, Ontario has ten lakes with cottages on it.
Today we set off to explore the town of Huntsville located just one hour east of our campsite. We took the backroads to the town and the journey was met with winding roads, canopied with bright green trees fresh from their spring budding, only to be broken up when we rounded the edge of a lake that was filled with docks and cottages.
The town of Huntsville was twice the size of Parry Sound, the downtown strip was alive with people enjoying their long weekend, you definitely got the impression it was a summer hot spot for the locals. A short river ran along the town connecting two lakes, the piers along the town were lined with pubs and restaurants, accessible by boat and vehicle. Huntsville is also known for their outdoor art gallery. Group of seven murals are scattered throughout downtown. We found ten of the paintings and spent the rest of our time doing a little window shopping and shared a famous Canadian beaver tail pastry. After our delicious treat we replenished the puppy food at the local pet store and headed to the nearest laundry mat to do some chores.
