Day Thirty Six
We woke early this morning with the anticipation of moving on we ate a lite breakfast and began to prepare the RV for the next jump. Our stay at the Horseshoe Lake Campground provided some experiences that were only just theory for me until now. When I worked at the RV dealer, I was informed that some older, and under maintained campgrounds are problematic with the power and water pressure, this was one of those campgrounds. The water pressure was extremely weak and our surge protector had to continually shut the power off over surges it was detecting.
I was disappointed in the campground over their pricing, and to be sure, weak services, that feeling was quickly replaced with sympathy. The campsite beside our spot had the grey water disposal, basically a five gallon pail buried upside down with a hole cut into the bottom for your hose. The grey water collected in the hole before soaking into the earth. This was the site I had requested to swap with and was turned down. The family that reserved the spot showed up on the Friday. For three days, this family had dumped both there grey, and black tanks into this hole, which quickly filled and spilled out over the ground. I truly felt for the owners, no one should have to clean up this kind of idiotic mess.
The two hour drive to Fenelon Falls was peaceful and you could definitely see the terrain change from rocky hills and lakes to fields and pastures. The route I had chosen through my iPhone was sending us through some pretty remote places. One such place we entered was a run down, deserted hamlet. At the four way stop in the hamlet, we watched a chicken walk through the intersection and join a group of chickens that were headed towards us. The image of this felt as if we had been transported to someplace in Mexico.
For the next two days we will be staying at Lori’s cousins Ken, and his wife Brenda’s acreage, located just outside of Coboconk. When we arrived Ken guided us in, and we set up our home in their driveway. We gathered up some drinks and retired to their patio for the evening.
