Wanted

Day 255

Today was the appointment with the tech to fix the propane furnace. Since I was going to be tied down with the Rv, Lori took the opportunity to go explore the town of Casa Grande for the day.

The tech was expected to arrive around ten. In preparation for his arrival, I removed all the service panels to the furnace. When he arrived, I described the situation and he began to tell me a story about another furnace that had a similar problem. After a brief time, and several stories later, I began to walk to the furnace in an effort to get his attention to the problem. Once I had him off his story, he went to work poking around in the furnace. He requested for me to turn the furnace on, and when it fired up, the thing rattled and screamed like a banshee.

At this point he turned and agreed with my original diagnosis that the motor was the problem. He then proceeded to tell me that he could order a new motor but it will take four weeks for it to arrive 🤦‍♂️. At this point I was not impressed! Not to the fact it would take four weeks, but the fact that I told him what the problem was. If you have ever needed a Rv tech to make a service call on your Rv, you would know they charge a fee just for them to show up, $180.00 US dollars just for this guy to drive all the way from Tucson to tell me he can order one. In my mind, professional courtesy would be to call the customer with that information before driving out.

Not being impressed, I decided to have him repair the leak on the hot water tank, then provide me with all the information I would need to repair the furnace as he put the covers back on for me. In the end, and several long winded stories, he suggested that he would be willing to drive to our next stay in Palm Spring to replace the motor if I wanted…. I took a strong pass.

This little bugger is hard to find… I have called a few local parts stores in Los Angeles and they also confirmed a few weeks for delivery.
