Judgment Day

 Day 204

By the time Nicole reached us last night, it had been downgraded to a tropical storm with heavy rain, and wind gusts pushing 50 mph (80km/h). In the evening, we expected to hear the sound of rain hysterically dancing on the roof as the wind rocked us back and forth.  Much to our surprise we heard no rain and the wind approached from the back of the Rv which was protected by some large trees. The only thing that let us know there was a storm happening outside, was the wind blowing the trees around. In the morning, I took the pups for a walk, timing it perfectly with the rains breakfast break.

The campground was littered with leaves, branches and Spanish moss from the trees. Sophie and Gizmo worked hard to sniffing all the debris as we navigated the paths, making it back to the Rv before the rain started again. I am not sure if this rainfall is normal for a tropical storm, but it came down like a misty wall of water, rather than rain drops.

By mid morning we were both relieved on how mild the storm turned out. The news was calling for a steady day of high winds and rain, so Lori opened up a puzzle, and I pulled my laptop out, for a day in the Rv. As the day progressed we watched a few campers pullout, I for one would not drive in 50 mph winds voluntarily; but to each is there own, I hope they stayed safe.

The rain was light raindrops, almost felt like a misty wall.
This misty wall was coming down fast, you were soaked in seconds. Gizmo drying off after a quick pee outside.
