Day 169
After our overnight stay in Wytheville, we were back on the highway towards Nashville, Tennessee early this morning. Our drive today was just over five hours according to the GPS, six hours for the way I drive. We continued down the I-80 for a few hours until we had to switch over to the I-40 going west through Knoxville. Turns out the I-40 is one of the major east-west highways, and the traffic we encountered backed that up. After several slowdowns due to traffic jams and three accidents, we managed to work our way to Nashville unscathed. One huge benefit to having an A class Motorhome is the access to the bathroom and fridge when your slowly crawling down the highway.
When Lori and I first planned this leg of the trip, we thought the distance from Washington to Nashville was a little further than what we would be comfortable driving. After two days of driving, we agree with our hesitation and will ensure we stick to small jumps as we go. Besides the amount of hours driving, we saw some interesting places pass by; if we were doing small jumps, we probably would have explored them. From here on out, it will be small jumps unless we are deliberately avoiding places we feel are unsafe.
