Day 107
Our final day in Nova Scotia is expected to be humid and hot. With this high heat, the campground power grid has continually fluctuated from all the campers running their air conditioners, this in turn has continually set off our surge protector to the Rv. Our travel distance is expected to be significant today and we’re more comfortable bringing the pups along for the ride, rather than take our chances with the fluctuating power to the Rv.
We are headed south today, towards the Bay of Fundy, the driving time to reach our first destination is 90 minutes from Amherst. Once there, we plan on heading east along the coastal roads, visiting a few lighthouses and beaches along the way.
Our first stop was an accidental one, we stopped for a break at the local gas station in the small town of Advocate. Off to the side of the gas station was a green space with a huge lobster trap. We took turns visiting the store, then proceeded over to the green space to walk the pups. After we returned the pups to the truck, we went for some fun photos of us in the lobster trap. While we were taking the photos, Sophie spotted two packaged cinnamon rolls on the dash Lori had just purchased in the store, Sophie proceeded to pull them to the floor and devour one and a half of the buns before we returned to intercept her unauthorized snack.
During our little break, lori noticed we were right beside Cape D’Or, so we made a calculation adjustment to our GPS and found a gravel road that would take us close to the Cape. We drove as far as we could, and hiked the final distance down onto the Cape. This place was amazing and we highly recommend it.
After Cape D’Or, we headed to Spencer’s Beach for some sea glass hunting before moving on to the Ottawa House By-the-sea museum. The Ottawa House was built in 1770 by the Ratchford family and one of the founding families of Parrsboro, in 1871 it was purchased as a summer home by Sir Charles Tupper who served as the Prime Minister 69 days in 1869. We passed on touring the museum and headed down to the beach for a long walk before heading back to the museum for a little ice cream.
Once we were back on the road we hit a few more lighthouses and beaches before deciding we had enough sun and beach roaming for the day.
