Day Eighty Nine
Today we continued our journey towards Channel-Port aux Basque, where we will make our crossing to Nova Scotia. Our departure date for the ferry is on the 20th, leaving us with two nights in Deer Lake to relax before we make the last three hour drive to board the ferry.
Packing up the RV was a breeze and we were on the highway before ten, for the three hour drive to Deer Lake. The wind did its best to ensure I was hanging on tight to the wheel throughout the drive, fortunately it had nothing compared to the winds on our approach to St. John’s. We pulled into the campground around one o’clock and began setting up the RV.
The Deer Lake campground is located on the far side of the town, right along the water with the first row of sites backing onto the water front. When we registered, the staff informed us this weekend was their grand opening for the the campground, it would have been interesting to stick around, but we have a boat to catch.
