Confederation Bridge

 Day Fifty Six

The rain had called off the assault late last night, and in the morning we were greeted with sunny blue skies. It was a jump day, so we packed the RV up after a short breakfast, and hit the highway. We headed southeast toward the coast and then east towards Confederation Bridge. Around one o’clock we said goodbye to New Brunswick and headed onto Prince Edward Island.

As we crossed Confederation Bridge, we were in awe. This bridge is something we have always heard about, and seemed so far away. When we drove onto the bridge, we felt a sense of reality. No longer was this something we heard about, it’s was now something we have experienced.

The bridge is 12.9 kilometres long and was a breeze to cross, no wind gusts blowing me around or sharknados looking to destroy us. Our campground for the next week is the KOA located in Cornwall, just fifteen minutes southeast of Charlottetown.

The drive to the campground was another half hour from the bridge. As we worked our way towards it, I noticed the the soil on the island was red, We researched this, and discovered the soil on the island has a high content of iron oxide in it, causing the soil to have the rusty colour. Through the drive we spotted all sorts of  sights that peaked our interest, I think we will be busy this week.

The campground was easy to reach. Our spot is located one row back from the shore of the west river. We quickly set up our RV and went for a walk along the shore.

Our home for the next week.
