The Breakfast Pig

 Day Seventeen

We stayed the night at a Flying J truck stop and opted to keep the furnace off, conserving as much propane for the fridge. Sleep was fleeting last night, the thought of sleeping at a strange parking lot just seems weird. Even though we were safely tucked in amongst the truckers sleeping in their cabs, we still slept with one eye open.

The morning was a cool one, nothing in comparison to the sub zero night we had in Winnipeg. We decided to go for a celebration breakfast for doing a nine hour drive the prior day, and narrowly escaping our imaginary monster that lives in the Flying J parking lots. Doing a quick search for local breakfast restaurants we came across The Breakfast Pig Badass Eatery… sounded perfect!

The restaurant was quaint with lots of decorative pigs dispersed throughout. The menu had a few of your normal breakfast items and several unusual, Lori picked a normal breakfast and I pick something unusual, both were very good and filling…. Going to need a good walk after this!

On our way to the restaurant we scouted a few possible locations for propane and selected the best one for the RV to get too. Lori dropped me off at the RV and she headed out too run a few errands. My first pick was the local Canadian Tire store and pulled up beside the pump. I rang the bell and a young kid came out asking if I was looking to have any 20lb propane cylinders filled? I pointed at the RV and informed him that I need propane on the RV, he began to apologize, explaining that he has never filled an RV and does not know how, not surprised! Considering the challenges from yesterday I was preparing to head off to the next location just when an older employee came over and began to fill the tank….I struck propane! ðŸ˜…

Once I had all the propane I could carry, I headed over to the KOA located just on the outskirts of Sault Ste. Marie and checked in to what will be our home for the next four days. The afternoon was warming to be a beautiful evening and it was a pleasure to set the RV up without a winter parka on!
