Day Thirty Nine
When I was vey young, my bedroom was always arranged so the bed would be against a wall. Over time I discovered I would have nightmares if I slept facing that wall. As I aged, the issue disappeared and became just a childhood memory. Living in the RV, many lifestyle adjustments had to be made, including the sleeping conditions. We have moved from a king sized bed at home, to an RV queen sized bed in the Motorhome. The bed is located on a slide out, so when the bed is extended your head is basically in a box hanging outside the RV. There are windows on each side of this box to alleviate the claustrophobic feel, but your face is pretty much pressed up against it. Both, Lori and I have been struggling to sleep at night and are wondering if the confined space at the head of the bed is causing it. I have not had any nightmares, but have had more disturbing dreams in this short time than I ever have. As an experiment, we are going to try and sleep at the foot of the bed and have our feet hang out the RV instead.
It was a rainy day with the sun periodically working its way through, adding a high humidity to the already soaked area. We took the truck to the small town of Morrisburg just south of our campsite for a quick tour and a few groceries, we then headed north to the town of Cornwall. Along the way, we passed a few points of interest that we decided to keep for tomorrow and kept moving towards our destination. We explored the town of Cornwall and by late afternoon, headed home.
We returned to the RV, and planned on walking the dogs around the campground. Upon arrival we gathered up our things in the truck and stepped out. In mere seconds, we were swarmed by mosquitos and had to make a run for the RV. In the evening we made another attempt to walk the dogs. This time we made it around one section of the campground before we were swarmed again. Now, I want to be clear on my definition of swarmed, during our walk, I looked back and saw a cloud of mosquitoes…. Yes… a cloud… behind lori. I checked her back and she had a dozen on her, with about another two dozen floating over her. Back at the RV, I noticed the wheel wells of the truck and RV had hundreds of mosquitoes around around them. We retreated quickly to the RV and in that short time, Lori ended up with eleven bites. Thank goodness for aloe gel.
