Day Forty
This was our first night sleeping at the opposite end of the bed in an attempt for a better nights rest, It was somewhat a success. I had no disturbing dreams, But did sleep somewhat alert with the fear of loosing my pillow to the floor. I am sure It will take a few days to adjust to the change.
Today we headed North to the locations we sighted on our way to Cornwall yesterday. The first, was the battle of Chrysler’s farm of 1812. This was part of the United States, St. Lawrence Campaign to capture Montreal. Four thousand American troops vs eight hundred British and native troops. The grounds were well maintained, with a full sized diorama of a military camp. If walking the grounds was not you cup of tea, you could ride a mini train around the grounds. Along with the memorial, was the Upper Canada Village. This was a Heritage town similar to our Heritage Park. We opted to not visit the park, the day was getting warmer and we did not want to leave the pups in the truck.
After the memorial we headed North again to the town of Ingleside. Ingleside was located along the St. Lawrence and has an access point to a group of islands that are all connected together. We took the access point, hopping from island to island and ending up in the town of Long Sault, back on the mainland. There were twelve islands in total, few of them were undeveloped with lush green forests, and some with residential districts. The ones with the districts had some amazing homes backing onto the St. Lawerence.
Back on the mainland we headed South, back to Morrisburg for some time with the pups at a dog park. In the town of Morrisburg, we came across some beautiful brick houses scattered throughout, some well maintained, and some in need of some serious TLC. When we arrived at the park, I expected to be attacked by a squadron of mossies, but turned out to be a no fly zone. 😅. Pups had a great time running around.
