What the Hell is an Atmospheric River!

Day 265

Throughout the trip we have encountered a fair number of unusual storms. From storms crossing Canada, to the hurricanes along the eastern US. We now face this unusual atmospheric river that is brining repetitive storms to the west coast of the US. 🤦‍♂️

Our original plan was to head north after Picacho, Arizona to Flagstaff, Arizona. From there we planned on touring the Grand Canyon before heading west to California. Due to snow storms in Flagstaff that dumped seven inches of snow and temperatures averaging around -8, we decided to forgo this part of the trip and head west to Palm Springs for warmer weather.

During our week in Palm Springs we watched this atmospheric river pummel northern California with snow in the mountains and flooding on the coast and valleys. Throughout these storms we noticed that Southern California was, for the most part, evading this river. With this in mind we decided to make preparations to head south to Temicula, California with the hopes of waiting out the storm before we have to head into Northern California. For the remainder of today we did some chores around the Rv in preparation for our departure tomorrow.
