Day 259
We finally leave Arizona today and head for Palm Springs, California, where we will stay for the next week at the Joshua Tree KOA. Our drive from Phoenix, Arizona towards California was pretty much a straight line on the I-10 that ran just above the Sonoran dessert to the Dome Rock Mountains. Just before we entered Palm Springs we left the interstate, traveling north on Dillon road running along the base of the Little San Bernardino Mountain Range. The road we found very entertaining due to the fact it was like riding on a roller coaster, or similar to the effect you would get when you flicked a rope up and down, sending waves down the length of it. When we arrived at our campground we set the Rv up in a timely manor that could only be done through months of continual practice 🫤.
Taking you back a few months to November, Lori began to have a tooth ache that has continually become a bigger problem for her. Today she decided to make a dentist appointment and called a local dentist recommended by the campground staff. Surprisingly they had an opening today at 4:00 giving us a few hours to prepare. Our original plan was to dress up in our best Rv clothes 😂 and head out for a romantic dinner for our anniversary. Slipping a dentist appointment in front of that might be a little detrimental to the plan.
When we arrived at the dentist, I stayed in the truck to track down a nice Italian or French restaurant for dinner. Much to my surprise, there was no upscale or fancy restaurants in the area. I was looking at Mexican, Mexican, Sushi or Indian food. I was able to find an Italian restaurant in one of the hotels, but when I checked the reviews, I quickly decided against it. When Lori returned, she informed me that she indeed had an infection on one of her back molars and would require a root canal. What does a root canal cost you in the US… $2000.00.
Having a root canal down here was not an option. The dentist provided an anti-inflammatory prescription that hopefully would provide some alleviation to the discomfort but if things continue to worsen, We will not hesitate to return to Canada sooner than planned. After Lori filled me in with the news, we had lost our desire to dine out and picked a pizza up on the way home.
