Three States in One Day

Day 212

Two months into our journey of the States, we have completed what we wanted to see on the east side. Today we travel through the lower parts of Alabama and Mississippi into Louisiana. Our destination for the next five days will be New Orleans.

During our drive through these states, we found the highway to change into long sections of bridge, carrying us over massive sections of swamps and rivers… in a some parts, I thought I heard banjo music coming from below the bridge 😂.

We arrived in New Orleans shortly after one o’clock and traversed the Rv through the city to reach our campground located on the far side close to the Mississippi River and the Louis Armstrong International Airport.

The drive into Mobile was across the Mobile Bay I-10 bridge.
The final entrance to the city was a tunnel under the Mobile River. The sign above the tunnel flashed “Maximum Height 12 feet” then flashed “Undefeated Since 1941”
This is a stock photo but I had to show the tunnel showing off it’s undefeated record.
Oddly enough.. that’s a rig further up… something is amiss here!
Downtown Mobile, Alabama
We had to pass through Mobile with the Rv on our way to Louisiana, we decided to go around the tunnel and take the I-10 bridge over the river further north.
Buc ee’s is a massive truck and tourist stop across the US. They are know for fantastic food and thier comical adds on their billboards.
So glad Alberta does not do this… very ugly.
Welcome to Mississippi.
All swamp below the bridge.
Welcome to Louisiana.
We have been crossing a fair number of long bridges so I decided to do a few comparisons.
This is the 1-10 into New Orleans 8.9 kilometres.
1-10 across the Mobile Bay into Mobile 12.9 kilometres
Confederation Bridge onto PEI in Canada 12.9 kilometres.
