Day 137
After a few days of relaxing in the Rv, we decided to get out and explore a few more places we had not yet discovered. Today we headed to the Stompin’ Tom Centre in Skinners Pond, located on the northern tip of the west side of PEI. The centre was built as a tribute to Stompin’ Tom Connor, telling his story and displaying all his awards and gold albums.
I knew little of Tom Connor other than a few of his songs, after reading about his life, I can only say he is an inspirational human being. He had a hard life, from childhood to his younger years he struggled with things most people would never rise out from. With shear determination and his love for music he struck out on his own to do what he loved the most.
After the visiting the centre we headed down to Skinners Pond and found the perfect beach for a long walk down. When we returned home, the Rv campground had begun to thin out from the September long weekend campers, leaving our Rv with a very spacious area around it. It has been nice to escape from the sardine can.
