Jump Day

 Day 157

Today we leave Massachusetts and head for the Poconos in Pennsylvania. The day started out sunny as we quickly packed up and head out. Our campground for the last three days was good, but this was another campground that allowed seasonal campers to build decks, fences and sheds. After experiencing this in a few past campgrounds, Lori and I both agree that the relaxing feel of a campground is lost, and you feel you are staying in a trailer park.

Prior to our departure, I sat with Lori to discuss our route to Pennsylvania. We checked our route carefully to ensure we were keeping as much distance from New York, and headed out. The beginning of our drive started on secondary roads that slowly twisted and turned through rich lush forests. The trees ran so close to the edge of the road they creating a canopy over the road, making for a beautiful drive. As we entered the main highway, we turned south towards New York. The traffic began to build until the road was filled with cars and trucks, the flow of the highway remained steady as we continued south. The highway signs slowly counted down the distance to New York, and I began to worry I selected the wrong path on the GPS and we were indeed heading into New York.

I had Lori double check my selection on my phone and she felt we were still on the correct path. About thirty minutes down the road we turned off the highway and headed west away from the total meltdown I would have had if we accidentally drove into New York. The remainder of the drive was on smaller highways, where the traffic began to thin out as we moved away from the Metropolis, making the balance of the drive peaceful. Our stay for the next few days is the Pocono KOA, in Pennsylvania.

Northampton/Springfield KOA really gets into the halloween spirit.
All kinds of decorations around the campground.
As close as we want to get to the City of New York.
Through the state of New York and into Pennsylvania
Highways were busy and lots of construction.
