Day Twenty Seven
It’s beginning to cool here, and rain is expected to roll in for the duration of our stay. We took this last, dry opportunity, to walk the Providence Bay Beach again. This time I came with my drone hoping for some excellent footage.
The bay was covered in a thick fog that was slowly rolling in wisps across the beach. The wind coming off the bay had a slight bite to it, but you were quickly warmed from the sun. We walked halfway down the boardwalk before I began setting up the drone for a few passes down the beach. After a short time, the sun was loosing the battle to the chill of the wind and we decided to head over to the far side of the bay where it might be sheltered from the wind.
This side of the bay was rocky compared to the rest, but definitely shielded from the wind. The rock formations along the water were similar to the formations we found along the highway at the campground, very flat. We walked out and began to explore along the shore. Exploring like this reminded me of the times when I was a boy. My family did a fair bit of camping and one of my favourite things to do was to explore along beaches and rocky shores, searching for imaginary treasures, or interesting artifacts. this took me right back to that time, like back then, I found no treasures, just fish skeletons.
We headed home mid afternoon to warm up and relax. For dinner that evening we made chicken wings in a air fryer on the campground picnic table, definitely setting a new low for glampers. On our after dinner walk, we came across a large snapping turtle making its way to the lake. This was the first time I have ever seen a snapping turtle up close, I was astounded by its size. This turtle was about a foot wide and a foot and a half long (tail included).
